Insecurity = Fear of Rejection

First, how you respond to rejection can totally change how it leaves you feeling. If you go into a situation where you might be rejected, calm and confident and with a plan, this will help. If you can add a little humor to your response, this will soften any rejection also. And, did you know the more you seek rejection, the easier it is to deal with?

Additionally, if you are confident, friendly and open, folks will be more inclined to help. Or at least reject you in a nicer fashion! Fear of rejection is a normal human condition.

Rejection is Personal and it’s Everywhere

Rejection is personal and it is everywhere. Furthermore, everyone experiences it. Jiang takes us through how rejection does cause a physical response, biologically. Pain and stress do that. However, by adding in that humor you can literally lessen the pain response. Laughter is true medicine. 1. Rejection is just an opinion. Learn to recognize that. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Not going to let that ruin my day. Think about how easily folks change their minds. In some ways it’s just a numbers games – after so many rejections, statistically, you are due for an acceptance! Those that don’t reject you are who you were meant for anyway.
  2. Every single rejection I endure makes me more resilient and better able to bounce back and grow. It is my experience, I will define it positively. I will use it to motivate myself. Bring it on!
  3. I’m not going to be scared to ask why. They have a reason, and I want to know it. Depending on the situation it could have nothing to do with me personally – so why take it personally? Or maybe, it has everything to do with me and I can learn and grow from it.
  4. When we get the rejection in the form of a ‘no’ we can problem solve that ‘no’. Maybe you are rejecting my idea or request, I’ll try again, would ‘this’ work better for you?
  5. “They” could be wrong. Sometimes it is the different thinkers, the out-of-the-box folks that make all the difference. Noah was right, but he still was rejected.
  6. Rejection helps define and give meaning. It quickly shows you how much you are willing to endure.
