Does self-care provide peace of mind? Something that tends to hold people off from starting down a path of self-care is that they don’t feel as though they have enough time to make the commitment. We assume that it’ll be hours out of our day – and we have no extra time, right? It is not easy to choose what to cut back on – just to feel a bit better.

However, in reality, you don’t need a ton of time in order to get a self-care routine going. Just a mere 10 minutes a day will do. Self-care doesn’t have to take up a lot of time to provide peace of mind.

In addition, there are ways to take care of ourselves, that once we have them in place, take no time at all, but provide peace of mind and empowerment. How cool is that?
If you have the time to dedicate an hour to physical health and an hour to mental health, that’s great. However, this amount of time is not a requirement at all! And the time suck of spending that much time on our self-care can steal our peace of mind with so much else clamoring for our attention.
As little as 10 minutes a day is enough to help you improve your life significantly.
But how can self-care provide peace of mind? Now, there are a few options you can take in regard to self-care considerations. First, you can spend that 10 minutes a day focusing on one specific thing – primarily either mental health or physical health.
You can alternate days so that you cover both bases, and have a full 10 minutes to dedicate to each one. You can spend time each day doing 10 minutes of quick cardio or a quick workout, which can mean the world in terms of improving your physical health.
It seems insufficient, but if you really push yourself for those 10 minutes, you can do a lot more than you’d think. I just found a 7-minute workout that I am loving – my ideal? To do it twice a day. My reality for now? Hitting that once a day and feeling good that my self-care provides me peace of mind.
Similarly, those 10 minutes can be spent on improving your mental health.
You can do this by getting in a five-minute meditation session or any other stress relief strategy that works well for you. Moreover, be creative about things you can do anywhere, and as long as you’re giving yourself around 10 minutes, you’re going to do just beautifully!
Another option would be splitting your time up each day. Indeed, you can even do five minutes each of mental health and physical health, if that feels good for you.
This doesn’t give you as much time, of course, for each part, but you’ll be able to do it more often, which might be what’s best for your situation at that time. Knowing, beyond a shadow of a doubt that I can fit those ten minutes in every day is empowering.
Even a small amount of self-care goes a long way to your peace of mind!
It’s certainly better than completely neglecting yourself on a routine basis. Find small time-saving strategies like deep breathing or a quick, brisk walk, and engage in them consistently throughout to week to see how your body and mind respond.
Brainstorm ways to do Self-Care that doesn’t take time out of your day.
Let me give you a few examples of this kind of time-free self-care. We all know that the world is a violent and dangerous place. Indeed, news, in whatever form you see or hear it is often disheartening, shocking, and scary.

Moreover, the majority of us don’t take any action to deal with this state of affairs. Why not? Well, I guess because we have no idea what to do! I mean, we can’t really fix the problem as individuals, can we?
Okay, no, not really.
However, there are absolutely things we can do to take care of ourselves and be confident and empowered that whatever situation we find ourselves in, we have some knowledge and tools to take care of ourselves and our loved ones.
What kind of tools and knowledge?
-take a self-defense class
Buy and learn how to use AND get completely comfortable with a self-protection tool.
“Try kickboxing, martial arts, jujitsu, etc. Get out all the anxiety, fear and anger. Feel strong and empowered in your body and what it can do.”
Beauty after Bruises
- Some tools for Empowerment:
- concealed weapon
- pepper spray
- stun gun
- kubaton
- striking stick
Get creative, read articles on self-protection. Be wise. Take the time to learn and be 100% ready to use whatever you choose to invest in. This sort of self-care provides peace of mind that time and money can’t buy.
Self-Care Provides Peace of Mind
Situational awareness, which is simple as carrying a flashlight and being aware of what is around you, is a place where everyone can start today.
There is an initial, upfront time in this self-protection mindset – but how fresh – that once you own the tool and knowledge and muscle memory from 10-second practices each day, you will own it. No time self-care. Peace of mind. Confidence as you live your life.
You got this!

What a great idea to concentrate on 10 minutes a day. I always think if I don’t have the time to exercise for an hour, it’s not worth it. However, 10 min a day times seven is better than none. Thank you for sharing with Grace & Truth Link-Up. Maree
Thank you Maree! It has been so helpful to me – I really am hard put to come up with a reason why I can’t spare ten minutes!!
Thanks for the great tips. I will forward them along to those I coach, especially the 10 minutes.
That’s encouraging, Kelly! Blessings!
