Attempting to start a substantial new workout regime, or set up a home business will often just be met with resistance, failure, and disappointment. These are massive changes that you hope to enact, and very often, we don’t have the energy or time to make them happen.
So instead, why not start very small and then let those little changes add up to a better you? Here are ten tiny, simple, self-improvements you can make for yourself right now.
1 Make Your Bed in the Morning, a Simple Self Improvement
This is a great way to “train” your willpower. Not to mention, a made bed gives us a sense of accomplishment and order. Our room becomes less chaotic, and we can think better. You’ll even sleep better!
2 Wake Up Ten Minutes Earlier – Simple & Easy to Do
What could you do with ten more minutes in your day? Just move your clock ten minutes earlier, you’ll hardly notice the difference. Keep making this ten-minute change every week, and in no time, you will be waking up with ease at the time you truly want to!
3 Take Omega 3 Fatty Acid – a Simple Self Improvement
This boosts brain function, energy, immunity, and more. It also helps to fight inflammation, and most of us don’t get enough of it.
If taking daily supplements is difficult for you – don’t embark on a whole regiment! Just commit to this one supplement. Remember the goal here is simple and easy self-improvements!
4 Sit Outside, Simple and Easy to Implement
For at least five minutes a day, commit to time outside. You’ll sleep better, boost vitamin D, get more fresh air, and even improve your temperature regulation and immune system.
Try doing something you already do – but move it outside – like exercise. Or reading. Or even being on your phone! Don’t make this simple improvement complicated. The easier they are, the more likely we can make lasting self-improvement.
5 Meditate for Five Minutes – a Simple Self Improvement
Meditation has profound benefits. It’s also something that can be hard to stick with.
So commit to just five minutes a day, that’s actually enough to see improvements in mood, focus, and more. If this is not an area you are comfortable with I recommend starting with an app, like Headspace. These apps make the process simple and easy to learn and non-intimidating to start.
6 Drink More Water yeah, yeah, yeah.
They say you’ll look slimmer, look better, and feel more energetic. Most of us are permanently dehydrated.
Yeah, I know that has been being preached at us forever.
Since childhood, I have been a world-class water drinker. It’s not a great feat for me, it comes naturally.
I’m not slim or highly energetic. So this is no magic pill. However, occasionally, especially in the cold weather, I find myself drinking more coffee or other hot beverages than water – and I really do feel a negative difference. So that thing about being slimmer, looking better, and feeling more energetic – I know it’s true. It is just important to remember it is all relative to us individually..
7 Get New Shoes! Anyone want to argue with that? 😉
Or a watch. Or a pair of new jeans. In short – make one small change to improve the way you look. It doesn’t have to be pricey. But making small simple and easy self-improvements can do wonders for you.
“By now, you’ve probably heard a thing or two about the habit loop. It tells us a habit is formed by a cue, routine, and a reward. But there’s one more factor that determines your success with a new habit: its simplicity.”
Kristin Walker
You’ll feel better; therefore, you’ll have a brighter countenance, and people will treat you differently.
8 Breathe With Your Mouth Closed – a Simple Improvement
If you don’t already, make this a commitment.
You’ll find it actually improves your looks, and it helps to filter better and improve the oxygen coming in. This isn’t something we give much thought to – but study yourself today and see how you naturally breathe,
9 Do 20 Press Ups Every Day – Simple & Easy to Implement
This will boost energy levels, tone your abs, increase your pushing strength, and serve as a foundation for a more extensive training program in the future.
But don’t worry about the bigger picture for now. Just add this one small habit into your daily life. Once it is something you do, without thinking and very rarely skipping – then you are ready to take on a more thorough fitness regime. Simple improvement, easy to implement.
10 Floss Your Teeth – Ha! Sound like your Mom, don’t I?
A small thing that not only makes your teeth whiter but has been shown to reduce the risk of cancer and more!
In addition, it will lessen dental bills and make your Mom proud!
Simple improvements, easy to implement, can make a huge change in our lives. They can start us on a path to bigger and better self-improvement.
